                              This is a message from the Town of Guilford Mass Notification System

                                             Social & Recreational Gatherings Recommendation

Due to the significant adverse impact on public health of COVID-19, and the acceleration of the spread of the disease, Guilford First Selectman, Matt Hoey, after consultation with the Director of Health of the Town of Guilford, has decided, through an Emergency Recommendation, to take further action for the purpose of ensuring civil preparedness and mitigating the adverse effects of social and recreational gathering within the Town of Guilford. 

Gatherings of more than 10 people for social and recreational activities in public and/or private locations, including but not limited to, community, civic, leisure, and sporting events; parades; concerts; festivals; movie screenings; plays or performances; conventions; and similar activities, are strongly discouraged for the general safety and health of all residents and consistent with guidelines of the Federal Government. 

This recommendation is consistent with similar actions being taken by many of our regional municipalities as well as those in other parts of the state. It is a more stringent limitation than the proscribed limit of 50 in Governor Lamont’s recent Executive Order. The full text of the Declaration is available on the Town Webpage. 

Town Offices

Town offices remain open to the public except for the Library and Community Center. It is suggested and preferred that residents use e-mail or phone calls for any interactions with town staff. For any business that must be conducted in-person, please use the social distancing protocols we have established. This includes handling and processing of forms, applications, materials, etc. Thank you for adhering to these policies. Working cooperatively is the best way to contain the spread of the COVID19 virus.

Door to Door Solicitation

On the advice of Health Director Dennis Johnson, First Selectman Hoey will be ordering a declaration suspending door to door solicitations until further notice.
