Winter in Sachem's Head
Check out the Sachem's Head Association website for links to weather reports and safety information. Click on the link and register for alerts from Guilford's Mass Notification System so you'll hear about extreme weather events that threaten our coastal community. Be safe when driving, shoveling, powering your home with a portable generator, reading by candlelight, or walking on icy roads! And remember to clear the sidewalk in front of your property within 24 hours of the end of a snowstorm, as required under the Town's ordinance.
Parking on Prospect Avenue
In response to our request, the Guilford Chief of Police has lifted the December 1 - April 1 ban on overnight parking on Prospect Avenue. This temporary change will allow for our Chimney Corner Circle and Prospect Avenue neighbors to park their cars in a safe location when high tides or severe storms cause flooding. This waiver does not apply when snow clearing is anticipated or underway.
Bridge replacement
Guilford Town Officials are soliciting bids from contractors for replacing the bridge. They are also developing a proposal for funding in the Town's Fiscal Year 2021 budget (July 1, 2020-June 30, 2021). We will continue to work with the Town to make sure that a new bridge opens just as soon as possible.
Harbor breakwater
The breakwater sustained considerable damage in recent storms and will need to be repaired. Brigham's Light was removed for safe storage until the repairs are complete. We are working with the Harbor Manager and the Sachem's Head Yacht Club to ensure that the breakwater protects our neighbors' property on the harbor.
Best wishes for the New Year!
