Child safety in SHA

The Executive Board has received many comments, calls, texts, and emails from neighbors who are concerned about the safety of children in the neighborhood. Unsafe and illegal activities reported: young children driving golf carts, operating motorized scooters and small motorcycles without regard for traffic rules, failing to wear PFDs when using dinghies, and riding bikes at high speed down Walden Hill, right through the stop sign and blind corner at Falcon Road. Please make sure your children are observing the law and staying safe!

Footbridge update

According to an email from the Town Engineer on July 13, the Town is still waiting for permission from the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to get the bridge replacement project underway. The Town Engineer has ordered the new bridge, but cannot bid out the rest of the project without DEEP permission in hand. Once the project starts, the Town Engineer estimates that completion will take a few weeks. Meanwhile, we are working with Town Counsel on a letter of agreement that will specify the terms of SHA support (demolition and construction schedule, payment schedule for SHA contribution, progress reports, etc.). Town Planning & Zoning Commission will meet August 5 to put on final stamp of approval for the Town. We had hoped that work would begin as early as August 15, but it seems likely that it will be later. 

Parking

We have been working with the Sachem's Head Yacht Club to identify parking violators so SHYC can fine them.
